This is the Charlot family’s largest holding of premier cru vines in the village, totaling a smidgeon under forty ares, with the vines all having been planted in 1963. The resulting wine is absolutely superb, soaring from the glass in a deep and sappy blend of red plums, red and black cherries, dark chocolate, gamebird, chalky soil tones, woodsmoke and a gentle base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very elegant in profile out of the blocks, with excellent soil signature, sappy fruit, ripe, seamless tannins and a very long, tangy and complex finish.
