Beautiful light ruby in the glass fading to pink with almost no clear rim. Bright cherry, sassafras, raspberry, and a little damp earth on the nose. Light to medium bodied with mild tannins, high acidity, and a medium-length finish of intense sour cherry.
I have lately taken to German Spatburgunder, which is the same grape commonly known as Pinot Noir in most of the world. They are typically on the lighter side, food-friendly (because, duh, pinot noir), and a good value. This bottle was $20. Recommended. Drink now through 2026
